Overview

Border Photo Alert is a local-first Android application that alerts road-trip passengers when they are approaching supported U.S. state and international borders. This policy explains how the application handles information.

Location

The application uses precise foreground and background location only while you have explicitly enabled road-trip mode. It uses location on your device to estimate proximity to supported borders and to generate advance alerts. The application needs background location so monitoring can continue when the screen is off or another application is visible.

Location is not transmitted, sold, shared, used for advertising, or used to create a profile. Border matching uses a geographic dataset bundled with the application and runs on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

Border Photo Alert does not include analytics, advertising, user accounts, cloud synchronization, or third-party tracking services. It does not request Internet access and does not send information from your device to us or to other parties.

On-Device Diagnostics

The application stores limited operational state and a bounded diagnostic history on your device. This may include monitoring decisions, alert and geofence events, error messages, and location information needed to diagnose a problem.

You may manually export a diagnostic report using Android's share sheet. The application rounds any coordinates in an exported report to two decimal places. No diagnostic information leaves your device unless you choose to share it. You can delete diagnostic history in Settings at any time.

Your Choices

You can stop monitoring at any time by stopping road-trip mode. You can revoke location or notification permissions in Android settings, though doing so may prevent the application from providing alerts. You can also delete the application's local data by uninstalling it.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy when the application's information practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are published.
